The monsoon has intensified across the country. In Tonk, Rajasthan, a bus was carried away by the surging waters of Tordi Sagar Dam early Tuesday morning, with the driver reported missing. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board. Additionally, a wall of Sonar Fort in Jaisalmer collapsed, and schools are closed in seven districts today. The death toll has risen to 11 in the past 36 hours.

In Himachal Pradesh, 87 roads are blocked due to landslides and flooding, with heavy rain alerts issued for August 6, 7, and 8. Rescue and search operations are underway in Samej village near Rampur, Shimla, following flash floods caused by a cloudburst on July 31, which resulted in 13 deaths and left 40 people missing.

The IMD has issued heavy rain warnings for 20 states today, including yellow alerts for Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Uttarakhand: Rescue efforts have successfully aided 17,000 people affected by landslides and flooding due to heavy rains, including pilgrims stranded on the Kedarnath Yatra. Current efforts focus on repairing damaged infrastructure such as bridges, electric poles, and communication lines. The death toll stands at 17, with 2 fatalities occurring on the Yatra route.

Maharashtra: Flooding in Pune district is severe, with the Mutha River overflowing after water was released from the Khadakvasla Dam, inundating Ekta Nagar. The Army, NDRF, and local authorities are actively involved in rescue operations and providing food and water. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is closely monitoring the situation.

Mizoram: The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Mizoram until August 12, with warnings of strong thunderstorms and lightning. The state government advises residents to stay vigilant and contact the emergency toll-free numbers 112/1070 if needed.
