Nagpur: The sale and purchase of MD (Methylamphetamine) is increasing in the sub-capital, with even two-wheelers being used for smuggling. Police have seized MD powder worth ₹11 lakh from a two-wheeler rider who turned out to be a drug peddler. This operation was carried out by the Anti-Drug Squad of the Crime Branch.
Information about MD smuggling via two-wheelers was received by the police through informers. On Thursday night around 2:30 AM, police stopped a suspicious vehicle driver in Gopal Krishna Nagar, within the Nandanvan police station limits. Upon searching him, they found 110.72 grams of MD powder, valued at ₹11.07 lakh. The accused has been identified as Suraj Pramod Gajbhiye (34, Archana Residency, Gopal Krishna Nagar). MD powder, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler were seized from him. During the investigation, he revealed that he was involved in the purchase and sale of narcotics with the help of Pankaj Sathwane (Somwari Quarter). A case under the NDPS Act has been filed against the accused, and he has been handed over to the Nandanvan police station. The search for Pankaj Sathwane is ongoing. The operation was conducted by Inspector Gajanan Gulhane, Siddharth Patil, Vivek Adhau, Manoj Neware, Nitin Salunke, Rohit Kale, Subhash Gajbhiye, and Anup Yadav.
