Navi Mumbai Police Seize Rs 2 Crore Worth of Narcotics in Major Bust

In a significant crackdown on the narcotics trade, Navi Mumbai Police have seized 1.04 kg of MD (Mephedrone) worth Rs 2 crore. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the sale of the illicit substance.

Major Drug Bust

The Navi Mumbai Police's Anti-Narcotics Squad conducted a major operation resulting in the arrest of Salauddin Alauddin Shaikh and Fazal Jafar Khan, both aged 21 and residents of Mahim, Mumbai. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the suspects on the Shiv Panvel Highway near Vashi.

Operation Details

The Anti-Narcotics Squad received information that two individuals were en route to Vashi to supply drugs. Under the guidance of Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar Landge and Senior Police Inspector Niraj Chaudhary, a team including Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh Dhumal and other officers set up a trap on the Shiv Panvel route between Sanpada and Vashi creek bridge.

Arrest and Seizure

Based on the informant’s description, the police identified and apprehended the suspects near the Vashi village bus stop. Upon searching their bodies, the officers discovered 1.04 kg of Mephedrone, valued at Rs 2 crore 80 thousand. The suspects were taken into custody, and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Ongoing Investigation

Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the narcotics and identify other individuals involved in the drug trade. Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Kokare of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Crime Branch, Navi Mumbai, is leading the investigation to track down additional suspects and dismantle the supply chain.
