“Deadpool and Wolverine” had a remarkable debut at the Indian box office, with the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starring film earning over 20 crore on its first day, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. This impressive opening makes it the biggest Hollywood release of the year in India, surpassing “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”, which earned 12.6 crore earlier this year.
Sacnilk reports that “Deadpool and Wolverine” accumulated a total of 21.5 crore on day one. This includes 11.7 crore from the English-language version, 7.5 crore from Hindi, 1.2 crore from Telugu, and 1.1 crore from Tamil. Night shows were particularly strong, with an occupancy rate of 48.73%.
The film has also secured a spot among the top six highest-grossing Hollywood openings in India, trailing behind “Avengers: Endgame” (53.10 crore), “Avatar: The Way of Water” (40 crore), “Spider-Man”: “No Way Home” (32.67 crore), “Avengers: Infinity War” (31.30 crore), and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (28.35 crore).
