Mumbai metro update: First underground line to start from July 24. Check route, timings, stations and more details - Hindustan Times

The Union Government has officially approved the renaming of 11 stations on Mumbai's Metro Line 3, ahead of a partial service launch scheduled for next week. This new underground line, which runs from Colaba to Bandra and SEEPZ, spans 33.5 kilometers and features a total of 27 stations.

Partial operations will commence between Aarey and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), with the launch ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, set to take place between October 3 and 5.

Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), highlighted some changes in station names. For instance, previously designated as "International" and "Domestic," the stations near the airport will now be referred to as "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport – T1" and "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport – T2." The Bandra station has also been updated to "Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC)" to reflect its location accurately.

While the initial segment prepares for operation, construction continues on the remaining portions of the line, with full completion expected by March 2025. The MMRC is diligently working to ensure that this critical infrastructure enhances connectivity across Mumbai.
